FC Barcelona makes great start to the 2011-2012 Season

Saturday, September 10th, 2011

FC Barcelona made a magnificent start to the 2011-2012 season with a 5-0 win over Villarreal. While Real Madrid are top of the table after their own 6-0 win, it was against Zaragoza rather than a fellow Champions League contender.

The Spanish League got off to a late start after the 1st round was postponed due to a strike by the players’ organisation. A considerable number of clubs in the top 2 divisions are in administration and dozens of players have not received wages as a result. The action against the league was to make them put into place measures that would guarantee payment or permit the players to terminate their contracts and move to a club that could afford to pay them.

In the end the 1st match of the season did not occur and for some time it looked like the second match also would not occur either. However , the 2 sides reached an impulsive compromise and so it was that week 2 was played. Week one has been postponed to Jan, when the second half of the season was scheduled to start, with that match now taking place in May.

Barcelona naturally played for 2 more major prizes. First there had been the Spanish Supercup, this year against Real Madrid. Madrid’s coach managed to be as petulant as usual and bad feelings spilled over onto the pitch with 1 or 2 red cards awarded at the end of the match yet again.

In the end Barcelona took that prize and then the Western european Supercup, against Porto, which was more friendly. Aside from that they played Napoli in the Gamper Trophy. And one of the top items of FC Barcelona news is that Cesc Fabregas is now on board, who has quickly fallen into place and added to the goal total.

Calling All Football Fans – Experience The Nou Camp For Yourself

Friday, July 8th, 2011

When you approach the stadium on match days there is a real buzz in the air with fans of all ages making their way to the all-seater stadium, the famous Nou Camp, which can hold up to 98,000 spectators. Here you can see people of all ages and backgrounds – Spanish football is definitely family entertainment and you’ll see young kids birthday treats, OAPs and everyone in between! So, make sure you have bought FC Barcelona tickets before you go!

While there is a definite buzz beforehand, during the match the stadium breaks into party mode. The passion and excitement create an atmosphere that is electric – and if you’re a football fan going to see Barça play is a must, particularly at the moment with such a great and successful team.

While Barça was unable to match their 2009 achievement of the treble it was notheless an extraordinary year for FC Barcelona.

As I write this the season is over and we’re counting down the (many) days until the season gets going again and the transfer window is open.

I’m sure though that one of the reason’s for such success lies in the World Cup win for Spain in South Africa in 2010. The squad was made up of a core of Barça players, who must surely have started the 2010/11 season fired up from that win.

That translated into win after win with a huge goal tally and even Real Madrid, a team never to be underestimated, was demolished against the might of Barcelona, who completely humiliated them with a 5-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in November.
Real Madrid was just one of the matches in which they scored 5 goals, but they peaked against Almeria with an unbelievebale 8-0 victory. Of course that kind of run could not last, but it does show how much Barcelona dominated the season.

One of the keys to Barcelona’s success is the high possession and undoubtedly high fitness levels of the squad to maintain that. They are almost always a joy to watch, with the ball kept in possession for long periods at a time and frequently seeing 70 percent possession. Passed from player to player they just control the match until an opportunity presents itself, which it almost always, sooner or later, does.

Lionel Messi in particular is something to watch with some moments of completely sublime football. He can create moments of pure magic, whether they work out or not and always makes entertaining football. And workhorses like Carles Puyol, who despite being out of action for a good chunk of the season is hoping for a strong comeback following successful knee surgery.

Naturally Barcelona’s fans are appreciative of all that. Matches often take place in a party like atmosphere as great play and hopefully great results melt away everyone’s problems in life into the background for the 90 minutes of play for what for some is a quasi religious experience. You can experience the atmosphere and excitement of the Nou Camp too by buying FC Barcelona tickets online. That way you ensure you have tickets in hand when you arrive at the stadium and experience sublime football by one of the greatest teams the world has ever seen!

FC Barcelona Tickets: Order For The 2011-12 Season!

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

If you’ve never visited Barcelona, a beautiful city on the Mediterranean, and even if you have now is the time to plan a visit to coincide with the Spanish League season 2011-2012 and order FC Barcelona tickets – that way you’ll see possibly the best football team in the world.

The top two teams in Europe faced each other at the end of May 2011 for the final of the Champions League, which took place at Wembley. However, FC Barcelona completely dominated the match and although they took the first 10 minutes of the match to get into their stride they beat Manchester United 3-1.

How long can FC Barcelona dominate their game?

However, it is uncertain how much longer Pep Guardiola will want to stay at Barça and whether a Barça squad under a new coach will be able to perform to the standard they currently display.

While on one hand Guardiola is FC Barcelona through and through – he played as part of Cruyff’s “Dream Team” and prior to being first team coach he was coaching Barcelona B – but on the other he has said that he doesn’t want to be in the job for 25 years like Sir Alex Ferguson, delivering results year in and year out – the pressure of doing that must be immense.

Pep Guardiola definitely has strong credentials as a world class football coach, and while his skills are well matched to Barça it is perfectly understandable if he wants to apply those skills at another club. Next season, which starts in August 2011, running through to May 2012, could well be, therefore, Pep Guardiola’s last with FC Barcelona. It could also be the last opportunity to see them play as the best team of the world as a change in the coach could be the end of their current domination.

If you’d like FC Barcelona tickets for the 2011/12 season make sure you order online. While the Spanish League won’t be drawn until July there are two clasicos coming up when Barça faces Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup in August – keep an eye out for tickets.

Barcelona Football Tickets

Monday, July 12th, 2010

For the last few years under the club presidency of Joan Laporta, FC Barcelona has really been at the top of their game. Laporta brought in Frank Rijkaard, who struggled at first, but started winning trophies until his spark faded out.

While Rijkaard’s achievements were fantastic enough, Pep Guardiola made sure nobody was going to forget him fast, with the Spanish League, King’s Cup and Champions League all taken in his first year.

In his second year nobody expected more of the same, but the club took the League title after a long battle with Real Madrid but failed to make it to the Champions League final. But while both teams seemed to be in a different competition entirely to the rest of the Spanish first division clubs, Real Madrid’s achievement wasn’t good enough for fans or directors and the coach unceremoniously dumped – once again.

2010 is an exciting time for football with the World Cup in South Africa, whether you’re involved directly in the sport or just like watching at home. And that passion is sure to translate into more demand for Barcelona football tickets as it does each year at this time. The Spanish fixture list is drawn in July and ticket sales from official Barça agents follow shortly after.

The biggest matches are those played against Real Madrid – “el clasico”. The match is hyped up beyond belief throughout Spain and it is certainly one of the biggest in European football. The arch-rivals watch each other closely, waiting for the other to drop some points.

The result of this is a packed stadium, with the 98,000 places in the Nou Camp all taken and the “cules” – Barça supporters – giving it all they’ve got at the top of their voices.

If you are in Barcelona when El Clasico takes place be sure you don’t miss it and book your tickets for FC Barcelona in advance.

Victor Valdes – Stars Of FC Barcelona

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

FC Barcelona Tickets

Victor Valdés is one of those players that supporters always hold especially close to their hearts – the local lad playing for his ‘own’ team. Catalan through and through and a true fanatic of FC Barcelona, Valdés signed for the club in 1992 – at the age of ten – and has worked his way up through the ranks to the first team, making the goalkeeper’s spot his own – to see his extraordinary talent you can buy FC Barcelona Tickets online.

Valdés, like his Real Madrid opposite number, Iker Casillas, made his way through the youth ranks at the club and got the chance of playing first team football perhaps earlier than might have been expected.

In fact, joining the first team squad for the 2002-2003 season, it was only in his second year that Victor Valdes became a regular – in place of Turkish keeper, Rustu Recber. The following season saw Valdés awarded the Zamora Trophy – annual award for the goalie with the best statistical record in La Liga.

To begin with, Valdés was often criticised by the media. Clearly lacking experience and showing reluctance to leave his goal line or really command his defenders, many observers considered him to be the weakest link of the Barcelona team. Gradually, however, won the critics round. Internationally, he is best known for two fabulous saves from current team mate Thierry Henry when Barça beat Arsenal in the Champions’ league Final of 2006.

It was the 2005 – 2006 season in general that ensured Valdés was accepted more by the football pundits of Spain as well as the Barcelona supporters. Helping the team win the outstanding double of Champions’ League and La Liga, Valdés truly came of age, with some memorable performances.

One of his strongest assets has always been his temperment – enabling him to quickly put aside the inevitable mistakes goalkeepers make and to maintain his focus at all times. His reputation continues to grow in stature and to pass new milestones.

Although FC Barcelona fans love to see the goals brought on by Leo Messi, they always reserve a special place for Victor Valdés – they feel that he is ‘their’ representative in the team – the local lad made good.

Victor Valdés is irreplaceable in the eyes of the FC Barcelona faithful.
