Villa – Today’s Discoveries

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

I thought I would take a break from my usual economic meanderings and write about a current trip my wife and I took to Spain. Like most Brits we craved for a bit of winter sun as well as the recent weather within the UK quite significantly pushed us onto a plane devoid of too very much resistance.

Of course us Brits appreciate Spain due to its close proximity and abundance of English speaking residents specially inside the South.

Aston Villa are coming off a disappointing 3-0 loss to Liverpool, their fourth defeat on the trot. With just one win in their final 10 games, Villa are low on confidence. This was evident within the 1st aim for the Reds on 13 minutes that resulted from a corner following Warnock conceded the ball to Kuyt.

I was just a little hesitant at having to drive 45 minutes from Malaga Airport up the coast and into the hills but in reality the drive was so effortless on 1 straight road I had nothing to fear.

We landed at Malaga about 2pm (a most sensible time to fly), collected our rental vehicle from underneath Malaga Airport (one of Malaga Airports biggest selling points) and by 4pm was sitting on the villa balcony comfortably warm holding a great glass of chilled wine.

With just the lone striker in Agbonlahor, a fight-back seemed increasingly unlikely, even as Roy Hodgson’s squad doubled two minutes later. Villan’s only scoring opportunity came immediately after the break when Agbonlahor took a shot at objective off a Downing cross only to see Reina bring off a half-save cleared by Konchesky.

Below was Lake Vinuela a attractive blue ocean tucked in between the rolling hills. We already felt relaxed.

Two back-to-back wins have taken the Baggies to ninth position inside the table. After they went ahead on 32 minutes by way of a Tchoyi strike, Newcastle got an chance to equalise quickly right after the interval but Carson was equalt towards the task as he saved a Taylor shot.

Di Matteo’s squad had been successful in defence even as they negated the twin threats of Carroll and Ameobi, and when Odemwingie scored on 71 minutes, he had secured the game for Albion. The striker got yet another aim in the dying stages and while Newcastle got a consolation in injury time, they were no match for the Baggies on the day.

Inside the air conditioned villa we had everything we needed. three smart bedrooms, 2 clean bathrooms, modern kitchen, lounge and diner all kitted out with dwelling comforts. not that we had been going to spend lots of time here however it was nice to understand we were not going to slum it. Outside we had our personal private pool, brick BBQ area and sun terrace with astounding views down the hillside.

After 16 match weeks, Aston Villa are in 16th position in the points table, on the brink of the relegation zone, when West Brom have jumped as much as ninth.

Information About Goalie Equipment

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

How do you turn out to be a much better soccer goalie? The answer would be to master the lost art of in fact catching the soccer ball. Hopefully, the theory of just producing sure the ball doesn’t land within the objective will be a faint memory. Simply blocking shots typically will not do a lot much more than improve your save stats.

Thankfully, though it is possible to get really high end sticks, you will discover inexpensive options within the market, as well. To obtain a simple lacrosse stick, expect to spend about $20-$30. Balls are commonly provided by the school or team, and there could be several additional practice sticks lying around, but players are expected to have their own crosses(sticks) to play with.

Change Your Thought Process

Initial of all, goalies need to transform their believed process. Just slapping the ball away accomplishes nothing far more than giving the offensive team another crack at the goal. Considering the fact that the goalie is possibly within the ground or horribly out of position, a ball inside back from the net becomes a near certainty. Of course, when the ball goes out of bounds behind or over the goal, you have earned a dreaded “corner”  Next to a penalty kick or a free kick proper outside the 18, a corner will be the most harmful play for a defense.

Adequate Training

All it takes is one ball to the face to lose teeth, a challenging lesson that was learned by scholastic players of years past.

After a goalie is properly convinced catching the soccer ball would be the most successful technique, the next step is sufficient training to reach this milestone. Repetition will be the key. You play like you practice. A goalkeeper really should attempt to catch each and every single ball from the air in practice. It is most efficient to train with a partner. Start off by kicking the ball inside air at each other. Use a mix of volleys, half-volleys, shots from the ground, and headers. Make sure to train beneficial form and fundamentals with each catch, and most importantly, “cushion each and every catch.”

Cushioning The Catch

Whilst trying to steer clear of becoming a physics professor, here is really a fairly uncomplicated explanation of ‘cushioning every single catch. This may be the reasoning behind airbags due to the fact they improve the quantity of time your body is impacting the inside of your vehicle. An airbag will enhance the level of time versus an impact with a windshield by approximately a factor of 100. This very same effect is seen when a boxer “rides a punch” by moving his head backwards during a punch. The cushioning in a catcher’s mitt, a soccer goalie’s glove, a gymnastics floor, a football helmet, a wide receiver moving his hands with the football – all use exactly the same theory. If the time of effect is changed from 1/10 of a 2nd to 1 second, the force felt will similarly decrease to 1/10.
